Safe provides two-dimensional finite element computations in plane stress, plane strain, or axial symmetry. Pore pressures and effective stresses are identified separately, and gravitational loads and initial stresses are included.

Safe includes an unstructured mesh generator with a graphical interface, enabling input of simple or complex meshes including tunnels and other structures.

A wide variety of material models are available including linear elastic, elastic Mohr-Coulomb, modified Cam-clay, and soil reinforcement.
